We welcome referrals from mental health clinicians, psychiatrists, and primary care providers (MDs and NPs). However, no referral is required for our services.

We'll start by learning a little about what brings you to Brantwood and what you're hoping to get out of our services. From there, we'll help you identify an appropriate clinician or service and arrange a complimentary 15-minute consultation to discuss next steps.

If you are entering individual therapy or parent coaching, your first appointment will take place with your therapist. They will ask several questions to develop a more comprehensive understanding of your concerns, personal history, and treatment goals. Together, you'll discuss potential approaches to care and develop a plan that reflects your individual needs and priorities.

If you are interested in our complex mental health stream or 8-week intensive treatment, the first few appointments will be completed by a senior Brantwood clinician or Brantwood's clinical director. They will ask several questions about your psychiatric history, prior treatment involvement, and current goals. If Brantwood is the right fit, they will then recommend a treatment program and clinician to continue your care.

Yes. We offer in-person appointments at our Oakville office, as well as secure virtual psychotherapy appointments for clients across Ontario. Availability may vary by clinician and service.

Many extended health insurance plans provide coverage for psychotherapy delivered by eligible regulated professionals, including registered social workers (RSWs) and registered psychotherapists (RPs). We recommend checking your specific provider's coverage for details on yearly coverage and requirements. While we do not offer direct insurance billing, we are able to provide receipts for insurance providers.

Your privacy is important to us. We are required to follow Ontario's Health Privacy Legislation guidelines (PHIPA). Information shared in treatment remains confidential and will not be disclosed to family members without your consent, except where disclosure is required or permitted by law.

Our diagnostic consultations involve a comprehensive review of your symptoms, mental health history, and current functioning. Depending on your needs, the assessment may include structured clinical interviews, standardized screening measures, and a review of relevant records. Following the assessment, you'll receive diagnostic impressions and individualized recommendations for treatment, further evaluation, or additional supports. A report will also be sent to your family physician, with your consent.
